Above The Barbie & Ken Little Theatre from 1964
Below The Barbie Fashion Shop from 1963
The Little Theater (Theatre) was originally trademarked in 1964. The Cardboard structure included a thrown, chair, coffee table & Bed - Backdrops included a Castle, Ballroom, Arabian market, Grandma's house &the forest!Along with that there were also child-sized tickets for various plays The theater also had a working curtain that could be raised and lowered.
Costumes were sold separately & included Cinderella, The Prince, Guinevere, King Arthur, The Arabian Nights & Little Red Riding Hood which came with a wolf head for Ken to wear. I thought that the Ken Hunter outfit fit in better here Than in all of Barbie Land
Barbie Trivia: Did you know back in 1964 that a Peter Pan costume for Ken was also going to be released but never was. The outfit was to have included Tinkerbell - Made from one of the mini Barbie's included in such Skipper outfits as Me & My Doll & Day at the Fair
The Fashion Shop came out in 1963 & included 2 chairs, a coffee table with 3 magazines, a display cabinet (my particular fav) a cardboard silhouette style Mannequin of Barbie & a stage that Barbie & Midge could strut their stuff on.
Also included were child-sized invitation cards so little girls could invite their friends to the "Fashion Show"
